INSIGHT SESSIONS (5-6 pm)
Your Inner Pharmacy, with Hélène Rödin and Jessica Lind, Strama Stockholm
The trillions of microbes living in and on us act as an invisible pharmacy, producing substances that protect and support our health. They help us fight off infections, balance our immune system, and even influence how we feel. But this delicate ecosystem is affected by antibiotics, diet, and lifestyle – and understanding it opens new ways to care for ourselves.
Colors of the Ocean, with Elin Dahlgren, SLU
Bacteria and algae create pigments and vitamins that color the sea – and shape the life within it. Elin Dahlgren shows how these colors reveal both threats and opportunities for fish, ecosystems, and ourselves. Elin Dahlgren is Associate Professor in Aquatic Ecology at SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences).
Smart Textiles: Reducing Infections at the Frontline, with Ulla Elofsson, RISE, and Per Wessman
What if hospital-acquired infections could be reduced through the textiles around us? The I-Tex project explores how smart materials might map bacterial hotspots and even attract, block, or host beneficial microbes – showing how “the right bacteria in the right place” could help create safer, healthier hospital environments.
